This barley field in northern Michigan is where cumulus clouds rest low, where peering over the horizon reminds me of the ancient wheat fields of Andalusia in southern Spain.

For me, the Portuguese term “saudade” is the emotion this image evokes, a wistful melancholy, love and longing for the serene beauty of the Iberian landscape.
